Digit – Money Saving App
This past summer I came across an app called Digit. I had a friend recommend it to me to help me save money. I was a little weary at first because you have to connect it to your bank account (eekkk! I know!) but, it is an FDIC insured bank account (which all bank accounts are – like Bank of America, Chase, etc.).
How it works:
The app connects to your bank account, analyzes your spending trends – when your credit card bills get paid every month, how much money you spend on daily charges, things like that. It does this to see how much money each day it is going to “sneak” away from you. Each day is a little different depending on the analysis that the app did:
Here is an example of what my digit app looks like. Whenever you want you can transfer the savings back into your checking account. I usually wait until I hit $1,000 and then I transfer it back into my checking–>savings.
The best part about the app is that it takes money out a little per day. I never feel the loss in my checking account and it’s money that is not sitting there waiting for me to spend it on stuff I may not need. It’s such a mental game – but it works! Since August, I’ve saved $5,462.17. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, but that’s a pretty nice vacation!
If anyone wants to check it out, the link is below. Enjoy!
